About The Festival:
This year was the fourteenth Southampton Beer Festival. The beer festival was organised and
run by unpaid volunteers who are members of the
Southern Hampshire Branch of the
Wessex Region of
CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale).
- Beer of the Festival is voted for by the customers of Southampton Beer Festival.
This year's Beer of the Festival was "Madagascan Ale"
from Saltaire Brewery, Shipley, West Yorkshire.
The full results were:
Lower strength beers (4.5% abv or below):
- Flowerpots - Perridge Pale
- Bowman Ales - Elderado
- Flack Manor - Douple Drop
Higher stength beers (above 4.5% abv):
- Saltaire - Madagascan Ale
- Downton - Chimera IPA
- Ascot - Anastasia's Imperial Stout
- Cider of the Festival is voted for by the customers of Southampton Beer Festival.
This year's Cider of the Festival was "Howat Dry Cider"

We received excellent press coverage this year - see the article from the
Daily Echo and
South Today (including a live weather broadcast!).
This year's charity was Southampton Sight –
The city's largest charity helping blind and partially sighted people. £900 was donated by our customers.
Tom McInulty and his guide dog Brunel visited the Wellington Arms in Southampton to collect the cheque.
